The NBA is possibly the fastest-growing sport in the online sports gambling industry as the game grows its fanbase globally while increasing their market share in the US as well. Against the spread

Betting on whether or not the oddsmakers were right about how many points the favorite would win by or how many points the underdog will lose by. For example, say the Jazz have a -7.5 spread against the Rockets. If the Jazz win by 8+, Jazz point spread bettors win, if they win by 7 or less or lose outright, Rockets point spread bettors win.

Over/Under

A point total or over/under bet is wagering on how many points will be scored in the game. For example, if the point total for a game is 215.5, a bet on the over will cash if both teams combine to score 216+ points and a bet on the under will cash if they score 215 or less.

Moneyline

Pick a team to win the game and if the team you bet on wins, so do you.

Parlay betting

Roll several markets together into a single bet to boost your odds and your potential payout. Every bet in a parlay has to be a winner for the parlay to win, however. So if you have a four-market parlay and get three out of four, that’s pretty good, but your parlay is still a loser. It’s all or nothing with NBA parlays.

Players prop bets

These are a lot of fun although they’re usually the last markets to go up on most sportsbooks so they’re the hardest to find for bettors who like to get their bets in early like us. You’re betting on whether or not a player will notch a certain amount of a certain stat such as points, rebounds, assists, blocks, etc.

Team prop bets

Cover a lot of different outcomes from games that don’t necessarily have any bearing on the game’s final outcome. Some examples include how many rebounds a team will get, how many points they’ll score in the second frame, whether they’ll win the tip, etc.

Futures

These are long-term bets that usually span the length of an entire NBA season. They cover long-term results such as who will win the NBA championship, how many games a given team will win this season, whether a team will make the playoffs, who will win MVP/ROY/MIP, etc.

Live betting

This is an exciting form of betting where you can bet on props while a game is going on live, which certainly adds to the excitement. Examples include, who will score the next basket, how many points a player will score after the half, who will win based on the current score, etc.

When you see a home team that’s a 10+ point underdog, they’re a great shout on the point spread (NOT the moneyline), a strategy that has proven to hit at a 58% rate in previous seasons.

Inter-Conference Overlord

Because teams from opposite conferences don’t meet as often, the numbers for their matchups usually aren’t as accurate. If you find an intra-conference game with a total of 220 or more, we suggest you smash that over: pro sports bettor Allen Moody used this system over several years with a 63.5% success rate.

Teams like the Golden State Warriors (current champion), Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Milwaukee Bucks are good shouts for futures betting. With the pandemic raging on in the US, many absences due to issues with the virus should be expected as well—absences that often allow for betting value to be found for our picks and predictions.

This crop of rookies is very intriguing as well, with Toronto’s Scottie Barnes promising to become a major contributor this season for Canada’s team, the Raptors. Other notable rookies include Detroit’s Cade Cunningham and Cleveland’s Evan Mobley.

The NBA’s 2022-2023 regular season will begin in October, with another 82-game schedule for all 30 teams that will finish on April 2023. The trade deadline will be on February, and the 2022 All-Star Game will take on February 19th 2023 in Salt Lake City.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the new and exciting play-in tournament (seeds 6-10 in each conference) will take place in mid April to determine the bottom two playoff seeds in each conference. The postseason tournament proper starts right After the Play-in games and will run until the NBA Finals—which is set to begin in early June 2023.
