The White Sox and Astros are both playoff hopefuls. Entering this Saturday evening match up, expect a pitching duel as Lance Lynn gets the start while Framber Valquez pitches for Houston. Both SP’s have ERAs under 2 and have been lights out. But for this free preview, I wager on a line I’ve never touched before.
Free Picks: Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox
Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox, MLB, Minute Maid Park
Will Friday's outcome impact Saturday?
Friday evening, the Houston Astros were able to edge out the Chicago White Sox, narrowly defeating them 2-1. Chicago opened the scoring early but it would be the Astros taking home the win with a walk-off victory.
But as the sun comes up for another day, there is another opportunity for Chicago to get back into the win column. And entering this game, the White Sox are sending one of their best to combat the Astros.
Lance Lynn will get the start for the White Sox. This season, he has dominated with a 7-2 record and a staggering 1.51 ERA. If that wasn’t enough, the RHP also has 80 strikeouts to his name.
For the hometown Astros, Framber Valdez will get the start. He is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA and has a solid 0.93 ERA over three starts in June.
I was thinking about wagering on the total runs for this BetPicks Prediction, but I think the line is too low at 7.5. While both starters have incredible ERAs, it only takes one huge winning to break open the scoring. Houston and Chicago have elite offenses as well, which means I have to stay away from betting on the total runs.
With that being said, there is one free MLB pick I am highly confident in, the White Sox Moneyline (after 5 innings).
The Astros are favorites on the Moneyline but I like Lynn in this situation. He is known to go the distance and I think Chicago has what it takes to lead after 5 innings. Houston has torched Chicago in the later innings, but I think Lynn’s experience will help the White Sox have a lead after 5 innings.
The value of this bet is also enticing because you could double your money with the correct wager.
I think the outright winner of this game is too close to call, but Lynn should be on the mound for the first 6 innings. His presence alone should be enough to combat the Astros and give Chicago a lead after 5 innings.
Stats
- Lynn is 1-1 in last 3 starts.
- Lynn averages 6 innings per start.
- Chicago ranks 4th In runs/9
- White Sox are 5-2 in last 7 games against AL West opponent.
