Some of baseball’s best hitting can be found in San Diego. The Padres are entertaining and have been monsters at the plate this season. However, Corbin Burnes of Milwaukee showed them that great hitting can be tamed by elusive pitching. After already taking a game from San Diego earlier in the season, Burnes and the Brewers look for lightning to strike twice.

Starting pitching changes this entire wager...
For the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers, Tuesday night they are trotting out two pitchers that have dominated the Earned Runs Average category.
Joe Musgrove will start for the Padres. While he is 4-4 this season, Musgrove has picked up an impressive 2.47 ERA and 70 strikeouts. Those numbers having me thinking about this free MLB bet.
Opposite Musgrove is another RHP that has insane ERA numbers. Corbin Burnes is only 2-3 on the year but has a 1.79 ERA. He has also struck out 67 batters this season and has fanned hitters when on the bump.
Those numbers might have you thinking that I am leaning towards the under in total runs, which would make sense. Burnes and Musgrove dominate the ERA column and it should be a difficult day at the dish for both Padres and Brewers hitters.
With that being said, I think Milwaukee is too sketchy on offense to wager anything in regards to total runs that involve the Brewers.
For this BetPicks Prediction, I am going to stick to one side and look at the Padres. Specifically, I think the Padres’ total runs (3) will easily be covered on Tuesday.
San Diego is home to one of the best offenses in baseball. The Padres have scored 220 runs this season in 47 games and have mustered 377 total hits.
The Padres rarely miss when at the plate as well. San Diego has struck out just 372 times this season, which may seem like a lot, but that is good for the 5th lowest in the MLB.
Circling back to Milwaukee’s starting pitcher Burnes, I am not worried about his low ERA for this free MLB pick.
Burnes has a career 3.90 ERA and has been impressive this season, but all of his starts with 0 runs allowed came in April.
Granted, Burnes missed time due to being on the Injured List, but it’s easier to fan hitters at the plate when the season has only begun. San Diego is in full swing and I think they shell the Brewers’ ace on Tuesday.
Stats
- San Diego ranks 9th in offense.
- The Padres average 4.68 runs per game.
- San Diego averages 5.05 runs per game on the road this season.
