San Diego is a popular pick to compete for the World Series. This season, they have taken names every series and are off to a hot start against the Seattle Mariners. Entering game 2, I give two betting options for this game. Will either wager hit or will I fail to come clutch?
Free Picks: San Diego Padres vs. Seattle Mariners
San Diego Padres vs. Seattle Mariners, MLB, Petco Park
San Diego is that damn good.
The Padres are one of the loudest teams in the MLB. From their stellar defense to their bashing offense, the Padres have made a name for themselves in the National League. Entering a three-game set against the Seattle Mariners, the M’s learned first-hand how strong San Diego is.
Saturday night, the Padres and Mariners play game two of this three-game series. After dropping game one to the Padres, Seattle looks to bounce back.
This should be a good pitching match-up for this BetPicks Prediction. The M’s are sending Justus Sheffield to the mound. Sheffield has a 3-3 record and has given up zero home runs in three of his past four starts.
Countering Sheffield is Ryan Weathers. The rookie LHP has never tossed more than 100 innings in a season, so it’s predicted that Weathers may be pulled early. This season, he is 2-1 with a 1.37 ERA.
If you want to play it safe, taking the Padres straight up would be your best MLB bet for this game. San Diego is listed at -200 on the Moneyline and they are by far the better team. No bet is a gimmie, but it’s clear that San Diego is on another level than Seattle.
With that being said, I think I want to be a little risky and look at the run line. As expected, the Padres are listed at -1.5 I love the value for this bet. Weathers has been a beast on the mound and Seattle’s offense doesn’t scare me.
Couple that with the strength of San Diego’s offense and I think the Padres can easily cover. The Padres have covered in 54.5% of their games. The margin of error is slim, but I trust San Diego to do damage at the plate and perform in the field.
The Mariners have a ton of potential but haven’t performed. They are below .500 on the road this season against a team that has covered 51.3% of the time at home.
Let’s lock in the Padres’ run line.
Stats
- San Diego has covered in 61.1% of games without rest the day prior.
- The Padres are 23-18 covering on the run line when both teams have equal rest.
- San Diego has covered on the run line in every game againt AL opponents this season (4 games).
