After a shaky victory against the dreadful New York Jets in Week 7, the Buffalo Bills look to take down another AFC East rival, the New England Patriots. The falling Patriots are +3.5 (1.91) road underdogs this weekend (888sport).

Bills Rule AFC East?
I’m not sure what it is about East divisions in the NFL, but they’re consistently among the worst divisions in football. The AFC East features the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, and the New England Patriots. In recent memory, the Patriots have been one of the most successful teams but it appears that they’ve relinquished the AFC East crown that they’ve worn for years to the Buffalo Bills in 2020.
The Patriots were downright awful in Week 7 as they lost at home to a depleted San Francisco 49ers team 33-6. Cam Newton made headlines when he was benched in favour of Jarrett Stidham after putting up only 98 yeards and throwing three interceptions. Stidham wasn’t much better as he threw one interception and could only muster 64 yards.
This is the second consecutive blowout loss for New England, and they both were at home. Their strong defense from 2019 has not carried over into this season, Julian Edelman is ineffective, and there is a lack of talent on offense.
The Buffalo Bills meanwhile faced the New York Jets last week, but they didn’t do it convincingly as the final score was just 18-10. Josh Allen had a down game by his 2020 standards as he did not score a touchdown through the air or the ground and the run game is practically nonexistent unless Allen’s the one running with the ball.
Still, after the last two weeks, I just can’t find it in myself to trust in the New England Patriots right now. They have more problems on offense than I thought, and the defense can’t carry them the same way it did last year when it was ranked first overall.
I don’t think there will be a lot of points in this game either as the UNDER has cashed in 6 out of the last 10 meetings between these teams. The UNDER is set pretty low at just 44 (888sport) but until the Patriots figure it out and the Bills bounce back offensively, I’m inclined to go low on these two teams.
Stats
- Buffalo is 5-2 SU in their last 7 games
- The UNDER has cashed in 6 of Buffalo’s last 9 games against New England
- The UNDER has cashed in 5 of New England’s last 7 games
- New England is 1-4 in their last 5 games
