The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a close defeat to their inter-state rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, but get an even tougher date this weekend when they host the Baltimore Ravens.

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a dismantling of their division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, in Week 5. The Ravens have the best defense in the entire league by a landslide as they’re allowing only 15.2 points per game.

That’s bad news for the Philadelphia Eagles, who have struggled against some mediocre teams this season and are offensively challenged. Part of that is due to Carson Wentz. He’s completing only 60% of his passes, has tossed 9 interceptions, and only 6 touchdowns to show for it. He’s been dismal, but it’s also due to a severe lack of talent at the wide receiver position.

Even at home, they’re going to need a few miracles to pull off a win against Baltimore and their number one ranked defense. They may stand a chance if they can get Miles Sanders going, whose been one of the few bright spots for Philly this season. He’s averaging 5.1 rushing yards per carry and has three touchdowns to his name. But if they struggle to establish the run early, they’ll be forced to have Wentz throw it around more, and they’ll be in for a long day if that’s the case.

888sport has Baltimore favoured by -7.5 (1.89) but that spread is too high for my taste. Instead, I’m more inclined to go with the Ravens scoring more than 27.5 for the whole game (888sport). I think there’s better value to be found there, rather than betting on a high spread for a team playing on the road, even if it is the Ravens.

I went against my instinct last week when I said that Cincinnati could hang with Baltimore, and we all know how that turned out. I won’t doubt the Ravens and make the same mistake twice. They’re elite, and the Eagles are not. Period.
