Seattle Seahawks vs New York Jets, NFL, Lumen Field

The Seattle Seahawks are reeling after being upset at home by the New York Giants in Week 13. They look to avoid losing to another hapless New York team when the Jets come to town this weekend. 888sport has the Seahawks as -13.5 home favourites.

Another painful week for the Jets

I feel really bad for the New York Jets.  Currently the laughingstock of the NFL, the Jets are coming off a truly heartbreaking loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13.

With 13 seconds left on the play clock, the Raiders needed a miracle to win, and boy, did they get one.  The Jets inexplicably sent a blitz after Raiders’ QB Derek Carr who was able to find WR Henry Ruggs getting away from his defensive assignment.  Ruggs caught the bomb Carr tossed him, and the Jets lost a game they should’ve won.

So, here they sit with an 0-12 record as they prepare to travel to Seattle to take on an NFC contender.  Will they upset the Seahawks?  No. That honor went to the other New York team last week, and I just don’t see it happening again this week.

The Seahawks managed to score just 12 points in their defeat to the giants, which is by far their lowest output this season.  They clearly have issues in their offensive line as they allowed Russell Wilson to be sacked 5 times.  The mobile quarterback had one of his most subpar showings this season, throwing for just 263 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The point spread is too large this week, and I’m not comfortable picking either team.  Instead, I’m looking at the OVER/UNDER, which 888sport has set at 47.5 (-109).  These teams feature the two worst passing defenses in the league, which makes it realistic to expect many points from both sides.

I think the Seahawks bounce back here with a win, but my money is on the OVER in this one.
