After an inspiring comeback win against the Chicago Bears last week, the Detroit Lions look to keep some of that magic alive in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers and their clutch superstar quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. 888sport has the Lions as big home underdogs at +7.5 (-108).

High North High Scoring
The Green Bay Packers are rolling as usual and sit atop their division comfortably with an 8-3 record. They made easy work of the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13 and should have another easy go this weekend when they face the Detroit Lions, whom they’ve bested in six of their previous ten meetings.
We all know the story with Aaron Rodgers and how he’s possibly the most clutch quarterback we’ve ever seen, but he’s not the only reason that we’ll see lots of points this weekend.
Matthew Stafford is an infamous gunslinger and ranks in the top ten in passing attempts this season at 248. The Lions offense has been hit with key injuries at multiple points during the season, but they hope to get their number one wide receiver, Kenny Golladay, back from injury this week. If he returns, the Lions will have a reliable threat on offense to deploy against an underrated Packers defense.
The Lions are poor against the pass, ranking in the bottom ten in passing yards allowed per game. Aaron Rodgers should have yet another career day with his mutant wide receiver, Davante Adams, who will be looking for revenge after a poor outing against the Lions back in Week 2.
I’m leaning towards betting the OVER on a matchup that’s almost guaranteed to be a high-scoring game. The OVER has cashed in seven of the last ten games between Green Bay and Detroit and 8 of Detroit’s 12 games this season.
The Lions’ offense looked much more fluid in their first game since Matt Patricia’s firing, but the Packers will establish dominance early on. The Lions will most likely be playing catchup all game with the Packers, meaning Stafford will be unleashed.
Stats
- Green Bay is 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games
- The OVER has cashed in 4 of Green Bay’s last 6 games
- The OVER has cashed in 4 of Detroit’s last 5 home games against Green Bay
- The OVER has cashed in 5 of Detroit’s last 6 games
