Free Picks: New Orleans Saints vs Green Bay Packers

It’s not every day that you get two future hall of fame quarterbacks duking it out. Reminiscent of the Brady-Manning era, Sunday night’s game will feature Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers going head-to-head in a battle that should be one for the ages. Betway has the New Orleans Saints favoured by -3.0, and a total Over/Under of 52.5. These are two of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, so you can expect a lot of points on the scoreboard.

Russell Wilson might be the best quarterback in the NFC right now, but I hope no one has forgotten about veterans Aaron Rodger and Drew Brees. These two men are the anchors for two of the best teams in the league and if you like betting on exciting games, this is probably your best bet for Week 3.

The Saints are 1-1 after an unusual loss to the Raiders in Week 2, but that was on the road. The Saints are incredibly difficult to beat at the Superdome, and in 2019, they went 6-2 at home. This offense has recently run through Brees’ connection with star wide receiver Michael Thomas, but he’s been out since Week 1 with an ankle sprain.

Because of this, the Saints have had to rely more heavily on the run game, which is fine because they have Alvin Kamara who can seemingly score any time he wants. Their lowest point total in the two games so far this season came last week on the road against Las Vegas, where they scored 24.

While we’re on the subject of scoring points, the Packers have scored 42 and 43 points in Week 1 and 2, respectively. They are on FIRE. Aaron Rodgers is playing at an MVP level and will chuck up lots of points in this one too.

I’d say it’s a good bet to take the OVER on Total points which Betway has set at 52.5.

Even though the Packers are rolling, I’m more inclined to bet on the Saints this week. The Packers have scored a lot but they’ve beaten division rivals Detroit and Minnesota; both of whom have lacklustre defense.

Also, both teams will be without their number one wide receiver, and therefore will have to rely on the run game. Packers RB Aaron Jones is no joke, but I’m going to give Alvin Kamara the edge here at home, and by extension, the New Orleans Saints. Not only do I think New Orleans wins this one, but I can see them covering a -3.0 point spread as well (Betway).
