The NFC West has been the toughest division this year, but the san Francisco 49ers are the only team left with no shot at making the playoffs. The Seattle Seahawks may still be able to end up number one in the NFC, so they will be rolling out their usual squad. 888sport has Seattle as -5.5 (-115) road favourites.

Tight defense in Glendale, AZ
Week 17 will feature two important NFC West matchups. The Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams will be engaging in a battle to the death to see which team secures a spot in this year’s playoffs. The Seattle Seahawks face off against the long-eliminated San Francisco 49ers and need a win to contend for the number one seed in the NFC.
The 49ers are still dealing with many injuries, including WR Brandon Aiyuk and LT Trent Williams. They somehow managed to beat the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16 but will have a tough time repeating an upset against the Seattle Seahawks.
C.J. Beathard looked like a superstar last week against Arizona, throwing for three touchdowns and finishing the day with a 125.4 passer rating. The Seahawks’ pass defense has been weak this season, but Beathard will be without his number one WR in Aiyuk, so he will be limited to funneling passes to George Kittle, who looked fantastic in his return from injury.
The Seahawks’ strong rush defense will be a problem for the 49ers, who have started about a thousand different running backs this season. Jeff Wilson was the guy in last week’s game, and he demolished Arizona’s front-seven, running for 183 yards and two touchdowns, but he will not be so lucky against Seattle’s fifth-ranked rush defense.
Seattle and San Francisco have been engaged in high-scoring games in recent history, as the OVER has cashed in seven of their previous ten games, but both teams have failed to hit the OVER recently. The UNDER has cashed in four of the 49ers’ last six games and seven of Seattle’s last seven games.
Although San Francisco has nothing to lose, Seattle is an elite team, so I expect them to win a crucial Week 17 closer, but it will be a low-scoring game.
Stats
- Seattle is 5-1 SU in their last 6 games
- The UNDER has cashed in 7 of Seattle’s last 7 games
- San Francisco is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games
- The UNDER has cashed in 4 of San Francisco’s last 5 games against an NFC West opponent
