After a Week 7 overtime thriller in Arizona last time where they narrowly lost to the Cardinals, the Seahawks look to bounce back when they return home to face yet another NFC West rival, the San Francisco 49ers. 888sport has Seattle as -3.5 home favourites (1.91).

Hawks Soar Back
Week 7 for the Seattle Seahawks was a little bit heartbreaking after they lost a tight game to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime. It was a thrilling game with a combined 71 points scored between both teams. It was very much indicative of the Seattle Seahawks in 2020.
The Seahawks have looked phenomenal all season long, and though much of that has to do with the stellar play of Russell Wilson, they just look like a well-oiled machine all-around. Wilson has legitimate weapons in Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, who seemed unstoppable against Arizona, and their run game is fantastic when Chris Carson is on the field.
Their defense isn’t anything special, but they can be surprisingly effective at stopping the run, which is where the 49ers do most of their damage. With Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. out with injuries, Seattle should have an easier time closing the gaps than they normally would as San Francisco will have to rely on rookie Jamycal Hasty, who looks good, but again, is a rookie.
The Seahawks have the upper hand in straight-up wins against the 49ers through their last 10 meetings, with Seattle winning 8 of them and I expect this trend to continue in Week 8. The 49ers were looking shaky before their beatdown of the New England Patriots in Week 7, but that’s more of a reflection of New England’s problems than anything else.
Seattle is scoring at a very high rate, and after last week’s nail-biter, I expect them to come out angry against the 49ers and throw up lots of points. The over has hit in the last 9 meetings between these two teams, so I expect San Francisco to get theirs as well.
Stats
- San Francisco is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games on the road
- San Francisco is 2-11 SU in their last 13 games against Seattle
- Seattle is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games
- The OVER has cashed in 4 of Seattle’s last 6 games
