If you want any advice on how to improve an NHL team, look at the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are 3-0 since adding Hall, Lazar and Reilly. Facing another tough test against the Washington Capitals, I take a look at how many goals will be scored in this game. With two talented offenses butting heads, will that reflect on the scoreboard?

Did the Boston Bruins win Trade Deadline Day?
With the recent additions of Curtis Lazar, Mike Reilly, and Taylor Hall, the Boston Bruins are 3-0 since Trade Deadline Day. Now, the Bruins will face another test when they prepare for a matinee with the Washington Capitals.
The Capitals are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, which snapped their 3-game winning streak.
It’s been pretty even in terms of head-to-head matchups between the Bruins and Capitals this season. In 6 games, the two teams are 3-3 against one another. The Capitals have a slight advantage in goals over the Bruins head-to-head, as Washington has scored 20 goals in 6 games, while the Bruins have scored 19.
I think for this NHL prediction, I think your best bet will be to focus on total goals. The Moneyline seems like a decent option as well. If you want an alternate bet, I would take the Bruins straight up. They have been on fire as of late and their newest additions have been tremendously impactful.
But for my first wager and this BetPicks prediction, I think taking the over in total goals will be a smart decision. Recent games have been high-scoring between the two teams and the Bruins are buzzing with their newest additions.
Diving further into why I think this contest will reach the over is goaltending. In the crease, the Capitals are not dominating their opposition. Teams are finding ways to score on Washinton, which is a huge green flag for the Bruins. Boston isn’t a high-scoring team, but they have improved in recent games. They should have several chances to bury goals on Sunday afternoon.
The Bruins are stacked in the crease, but the Capitals are the number one offense in the NHL right now. The Capitals have a ton of firepower lined up that wreaks havoc on any defensive squad in the league. Expect the Capitals to do their share of goalscoring as well.
Boston is rolling and the Capitals’ offense is elite. We combine the two and there you have it, a wager on the over in total goals.
Stats
- The over has cashed in 6 straight Capitals’ games.
- The over is 13-8-2 for Washington on the road.
- 4 of the last 6 games between WSH/BOS has hit the over.
- The over is 5-4 in last 10 between these teams.
