Boston and Washington have traded victories this season. Neither team has marked their territory over one another, which makes this an interesting contest. For this prediction, I take a look at the puck line for the hometown Washington Capitals. The big, bad Bruins have broken hearts before, but I think it’s time for Washington to do some damage in this series.

Will the streaky play of Boston continue?
The Bruins are no doubt in the fast lane to the playoffs, but their streaky play as of late may worry some of Boston’s faithful. Since March 25, we have seen a pattern for the B’s.
On that day, the Bruins lost to the New York Islanders in overtime. They would bounce back in the next game to defeat the Buffalo Sabres.
Since March 25, the Bruins have traded wins and losses in consecutive order. The pattern has continued for 8 straight games. Judging by the Bruins’ most recent victory against the Philadelphia Flyers, all signs point to the Capitals stealing the next game against Boston.
With that being said, I think I am going to stay away from betting on any team straight up. Neither team is really giving me the confidence I need to make a bet on the MoneyLine. However, I do like one wager that I think will be your best NHL bet for this contest: the Washington puck line.
One of my favorite things about this bet is the value. The Capitals are at home and listed at -1.5 at +195 and this season, Washington is 20-19 against the spread. On top of that, the Bruins are terrible against the spread. Boston is 11-25, making me confident in this BetPicks prediction.
In head-to-head contests between the Bruins and Capitals, two games have finished with one team winning by 2 or more goals, while the other two contests have seen the game finish with less than a two-goal lead in the victory.
For this contest, what we truly need is an empty-net goal. I think the Capitals can win this contest, but I expect it to be close. Hopefully, down late, the deciding moment of this wager could be when Boston pulls their goalie when trailing.
Of course, this is all hypothetical, but every game in Washington between the Caps and Bruins has been high-scoring. Thursday night, we need the Capitals to potentially hit one empty-net goal for this bet to cash.
Stats
- Boston are 0-4 in last 4 games following a win.
- The Bruins are 10-5-3 on the road this season.
- Washington has played in 2 straight games decided by more than 1.5 goals.
- The Capitals average 3.42 goals per game at home this season.
