The Jets have quietly become one of the best teams in the NHL. Looking to make some noise in Calgary, I take a look at how efficient the Jets have been at covering the spread. On the road, Winnipeg looks to cover once again in an arena where they have not found success this season. Can the Flames dampen the mood and ruin my bet?

Are the Winnipeg Jets a secret betting juggernaut?
As the Jets prepare for another battle against the slumping Calgary Flames, the 2nd place Jets have found themselves as one of the most efficient teams in the NHL against the spread. This is eye-opening and has me thinking about what I want to do for this wager.
This season, the Jets are 26-7 against the spread, compared to Calgary’s 14-20 record. Could betting on the Jets’ puck-line be the best NHL bet you can make?
Winnipeg enters this game having won their past 2 games. In their recent victories against the Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg easily handed the lowly Canucks, limiting them to just one goal in two games.
Looking back at every previous contest between the Jets and Flames, only one game has been decided by more than one goal. This makes the spread intriguing because Winnipeg is currently listed at +1 (Betway).
I think taking Winnipeg on the spread is one of the best bets you can make. Calgary has been terrible as of late, while the Jets continue to climb the ranks in the North Division. Head-to-head, the Jets are 3-2 against the Flames this season. That extra goal given to Winnipeg should be more than enough for the Jets to cover.
The Jets are on the road but should be rested. Winnipeg are 10-6-1 on the road this season but are 0-1 in Calgary. The Flames own a decent home record, sitting happily at 8-5-1 inside the confines of their own arena.
Winnipeg ranks high in total goals for, while the Flames are mediocre on defense, especially goals allowed. I think taking the Jets’ puck line is a no-brainer for this contest.
With the Jets’ firepower and Calgary’s lack of direction, I am confident in Winnipeg’s ability to cover on the spread in this game.
Stats
- The Jets are 26-7 ATS this season.
- 80% of games between WPG and CGY have been decided by 1 goal this season.
- The Flames are 14-20 ATS this season.
- Calgary is ranked 23rd in goals per game.
