The first half of the regular season for Ottawa has been abysmal. However, the Senators have since turned their season around. Now a threat in the North Division, I think the Sens have a good chance at defeating Edmonton on Wednesday. The Oilers’ offense has been compromised as of late, which is the perfect opportunity for the Sens to strike.
Free Picks: Edmonton Oilers vs. Ottawa Senators

Has Ottawa righted the ship?
The Ottawa Senators are one of the worst teams in the NHL – so what makes them entertaining to watch?
Despite being in the basement of the North Division, the Senators’ second half of the NHL season has been wild. For a team that struggled to pick up victories in the early going, Ottawa has dashed hopes of opposing teams that thought a game against them would be a walk in the park.
Wednesday night, the Senators are put to the test once again when they take on the Edmonton Oilers.
With 1 goal in his last 5 games, Connor McDavid is the talk of the town in the NHL right now. McDavid isn’t easily held off the scoresheet but has struggled to pot goals in recent games. With that being said, McDavid did tally 2 assists in the Oilers’ most recent game.
Has McDavid’s goal-absence impacted NHL regular season odds? Entering their upcoming contest, it isn’t surprising that the Oilers are considered the favorite.
The Senators are clear underdogs in this one – but big dogs gotta eat! I think it’s time we roll with the underdog. Ottawa has turned the table and I want to ride their current momentum for this free pick and prediction.
I will preface this by saying that if you personally don’t feel comfortable in taking the Senators’ money line, I would focus on the total goals OVER 5.5 (Betway). But if you want to be a little bold like me and ride the hype train of Ottawa, I suggest looking at Ottawa stealing a victory from Edmonton.
The main reason I think this is the best NHL bet for today is the Senators should be well-rested. Earlier this week, these teams met and the Sens pushed the Oilers to the brink. Although Edmonton won, the Sens were able to challenge the Oilers in a close contest.
With a day off for rest and preparation, I am confident the Sens can continue to shock the NHL and pick up a huge victory over Edmonton.
Stats
- The Sens are 5-5 in their last 10.
- Ottawa has been considered the underdog in every game this season.
- Edmonton averages 3.70 goals against Ottawa in last 10 games.
- The Oilers are 2-3 in their last 5 regular season games.
